A Perfect Day on the Greens: 5th Annual Golf Scramble Recap

Our 5th Annual Golf Scramble at Echo Hills Golf Club was one for the books! On August 22, golfers were greeted with the kind of weather you hope for when planning an outdoor event—cool, sunny, and just right for a full morning on the greens.

The driving range opened bright and early at 7 a.m., with players trickling in, warming up, and catching up with one another. The shotgun start was set for 8 a.m., but with everyone enjoying the relaxed morning atmosphere, we didn’t mind starting just a smidge late. Photographer Doug Fosnight joined us this year, eager to capture the action on the course. It was his first time photographing golfers, and he had a great time snapping moments big and small throughout the day.

When the scramble wrapped up, everyone gathered in the clubhouse for a well-earned lunch. City BBQ on Miller Lane and Freshway Foods of Sidney treated us to a spread of smoked chicken, pulled pork, baked beans, coleslaw, and broccoli salad. After hours on the course, it was the perfect way to celebrate together.

The competition was tight, and the prizes brought plenty of smiles. Our first-place team was a familiar one: Mike Haney and the Schneiders, who have been with us every year since the scramble began. It was a joy to hand each of them a $50 gas card as a nod to their consistency and support. Second place walked away with $25 Speedway gas cards, while our third-place finishers had a laugh over their matching performance polos, promising to coordinate so they wouldn’t show up in the same shirt on the same day. Longest drive winners each received a $50 Echo Hills Pro Shop gift card, and closest-to-the-pin prizes were provided by our friends at Piqua Pizza.

Events like this don’t come together without a whole team of helping hands. The staff at Echo Hills worked tirelessly behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly, and we couldn’t be more thankful for their partnership.
