Pizza, Preparedness, and First Aid Kits!
Last night’s Muster & Mingle was a wonderful evening of food, fellowship, and learning together as a community. We kicked things off as always with announcements and sharing a pizza dinner together (thank you, Domino’s!).

Afterward, we were honored to welcome Joel Smith, Director of the Miami County Emergency Management Agency, as our guest speaker in recognition of Emergency Preparedness Month.
Using the Disaster Preparedness framework from Ready.gov and local resources, Joel guided us through practical steps to:
- Plan Ahead for tornados, winter storms, and other emergencies by building an emergency kit.
- Ask for Help by knowing where to find shelter, transportation, and key phone numbers.
- Stay Informed through weather radios, local alert systems, and trusted weather apps.

The evening wrapped up with a hands-on project: assembling first aid kits. Thanks to the teamwork and generosity of everyone present, every household went home with a complete kit, and the extra kits will be added to our Welcome Home baskets—a special gift we provide to veterans who are being rehoused to make their new house feel like home.

We are grateful to Joel for sharing his expertise, and to all who came out to learn and contribute. Together, we’re building a stronger, more resilient community.
