A Perfect Morning at Lock 9 Park – Hero Harvest 5K Recap
What a beautiful morning we had for the 2025 Hero Harvest 5K at Lock 9 Park in Piqua! Over 70 runners and several families came out to enjoy the sunshine, scenic trails, and great company—all in support of our local veterans and caregivers.
The day got off to an energetic start thanks to Can’t Stop Running, who not only handled race timing but also kept the pre-race vibe upbeat with a fun playlist. After a few words from our event coordinator Kayleen and the National Anthem, everyone was off and running!
The route along the Miami River Recreation Trail was as scenic as it was invigorating. Runners were cheered on at a lively water station just before the halfway point, complete with fun music and plenty of encouragement to keep spirits high.

Once runners finished the down-and-back course, they were greeted with breakfast burritos from Crooked Handle and healthy snacks from Thrivent Main Street Financial Group, including protein bars, fresh fruit, water, and Gatorade. Medals were awarded to our top finishers, but honestly, everyone left feeling like a winner after such a fun morning.

We couldn’t have done it without our amazing sponsors: Zara Rhone, Certified Public Accountant, Inc., Hanger Clinic, Tropical Smoothie Café, Crooked Handle, Thrivent Main Street Financial Group, and Can’t Stop Running. Thank you for helping us make this day possible!
We’re already looking forward to next year—mark your calendars for October 3, 2026, and join us for another fantastic morning on the trail!
