A Souper Evening in Tipp City

On Wednesday January 28th, we met at the Tipp Center for our first Muster & Mingle event in Tipp City since October of 2024. We hosted the Miami Valley Veterans Museum, who have been heavily requested ever since their first appearance at Muster & Mingle in February of 2022. They were one of our first partner organizations to present at Muster & Mingle back when we were figuring out exactly what Muster & Mingle was and it’s impact on the community,

At that event, as well as tonight, we had dinner from Panera. Our veterans and their families enjoyed their choice of broccoli cheddar, creamy tomato, country, and lentil soups. The country soup was prepared using a jarred mix that had been created by our partners at Thrivent. The jars are stocked in our Food Pantry, and contain chicken bouillon, rice, barley, lentils, split peas, pasta, carrots, and celery. We made the soup as a way to bring awareness to our Military and Veteran Need Based Food Pantry. Open once a week on Thursdays from 10:00-1:00, we invite anyone with a need to come and see us!

After dinner and announcements, everyone turned their attention to our speakers from the museum. First they learned about the history of the museum itself, from it’s inception to the donation of the museum site, and into the present day. It was amazing to see the photos of the growth the museum has experienced throughout the years. After that, we learned about the Civil War.
