Bunnies and Breakfast Bring Smiles
On Saturday March 29, we gathered at Chaney-Graef-Pitsenbarger VFW Post 4874 for our annual Bunny Breakfast and Egg Hunt, an event we host with the support of the post Auxiliary. This is the 4th year of this event, and we feel like this was our best one yet!

Breakfast was that classic combo of pancakes and sausage (donated by Piqua Pizza Supply), along with fruit cups from the Auxiliary, and yogurt donated by Dannon in Minster. Our Vice President Kayleen West and her husband, Navy veteran Darin, manned the griddles all morning, pumping out delicious pancakes for almost 4 hours! Soon the sound of laughter and conversation filled the air as families filled their plates and then their bellies.

Just like last year, the stars of the show were the rabbits brought by DC Rabbitry in Covington. Raised by 2 cousins in 4H with their help of their mom/aunt, these are championship rabbits that are loved and handled regularly. 3 of the rabbits were Continental Giant (or Conti) rabbits, one of whom – Chester – is the largest in the state of Ohio! We were so grateful to have local photographer Doug Fosnight on hand to capture photos of the kids and the bunnies. He took over 1300 photos for us, and they can all be viewed by clicking here! Those photos are hosted for free on SmugMug, and Operation Veteran and Caregiver Support does not make any money from any purchases made via their site.
After breakfast was eaten and crafts were made, it was egg hunting time! The weather wasn’t fully cooperating, so we decided to host our egg hunts under shelter. For the ‘big kids’, (10-13), that meant that they hunted eggs in the post’s meeting room. They had a blast searching for eggs under the pool table, inside coat racks, and scattered across the chairs. For the other age groups, the weather broke just enough that we were able to go outside. We scattered eggs in the picnic shelter, under the porch roof, and outside the shed. The kids had a blast gathering eggs and racing their friends to see who could get the most.

After eggs were gathered and the goodies inside harvested, it was time to say goodbye for another year. We are so thankful to our partners at VFW Post 4874, Piqua Pizza, and Dannon for their support of this fun event. You can see a list of our upcoming events by clicking here. We would love to see you at one of our Muster & Mingle events!
