Sunshine and Fishing

We held our Annual Kids Fishing Derby at Stillwater Prairie Preserve on Saturday June 15th. The weather was perfect for fishing, and our volunteers made quick work of setting up. After registration, they made their way to the pond to choose their fishing spots and unpack their gear.

Fishing began at 9:00, and Paisley caught our first fish of the day. Dad helped her get it weighed and measured, and it was a whopper at 2oz and 5 inches long.

After several hours of fierce fishing, the derby ended with a grand total of 45 fish caught!

Our volunteers grilled hot dogs and everyone enjoyed goldfish crackers, gummies, and yogurt donated by our friends at Danon. We announced our winners for each age group, as well as passed out our prizes for heaviest and longest fish. Both of those prizes went to Cody for his 14″, 1 pound bass.
