Strengthening Veteran Voices

On June 3, we gathered for another meaningful Muster & Mingle, coming together to share a meal, stories, and a renewed sense of purpose. The evening was made possible by a generous dinner from Submarine House, and by an inspiring presentation from representatives of Concerned Veterans for America (CVA).

At the heart of the evening, CVA representatives spoke about the mission and impact of their “Vets on the Hill” initiative. Each year, this program brings veterans to Washington, DC to meet directly with Members of Congress and their staff, advocating for key reforms—particularly in veteran health care, VA accountability, and national defense policies. They explained how these face-to-face meetings amplify veterans’ voices, carrying the weight of lived experience to the halls of power. In recent years, CVA has brought hundreds of veterans into more than 100 meetings with congressional offices, supporting legislative momentum on initiatives like the VA MISSION Act and broader health-care choice efforts .

Attendees heard how next month’s Vets on the Hill trip will build on previous successes, striving to elevate even more veteran perspectives directly to policymakers. It was clear from the conversation that every voice—no matter how local or personal—can drive change.

If you weren’t able to join us on June 3, we missed you—but there are more gatherings ahead. Visit our Upcoming Events page to stay connected.

Our community is strengthened when we come together around a shared purpose. Thank you to Submarine House for the meal and to Concerned Veterans for America for reminding us how powerful our voices can be when we stand together.
