Celebrating 5 Years of Dedication and Community

What a night to remember! On June 21, we gathered together for the A Heart for Veterans Gala, celebrating five incredible years of service, dedication, and unwavering support for veterans, caregivers, and their families. It was an evening filled with laughter, memories, and joy—a perfect tribute to the heart and soul of this organization.

Romer’s Catering of Piqua served up a spectacular meal that set the tone for an evening of warmth and connection. We can’t thank them enough for their generosity and their longtime support of our mission. Guests were encouraged to let loose and have fun, and from the moment they arrived, the atmosphere was full of celebration.

Throughout the night, guests colored on their placemats, laughed together, and blew bubbles in honor of the carefree, joyful spirit we work so hard to cultivate. One of the highlights of the evening was the lively twist contest—which had everyone cheering and clapping! The winner was proudly awarded the Sherry Villers Twist Trophy, a playful but meaningful nod to the fun-loving heart of this organization’s community.

We were also delighted by the incredible talents of Brendan Trojan, whose magic filled the room with wonder and excitement. His illusions brought smiles to every table, adding a touch of whimsy to an already unforgettable night.

Our silent auction kept guests buzzing throughout the evening, offering an array of wonderful items that helped raise funds to continue our work supporting veterans and caregivers. The generosity shown by everyone in the room was truly humbling.

But beyond the fun, we also took time to pause and reflect. We recognized those who have have shaped who we are as an organization. Ed, the first veteran we ever helped, Wanda and Francis, veteran caregivers who taught us that to reach the veteran, we have to reach those they rely on too. And Jim, our most dedicated volunteer, always willing to put his hands – and big red truck! – to work for whatever we need.

Together, we honored the memory of veterans, supporters, and board members we have lost over the past five years—James, John, Jerry, Sherry, and Tammy—whose dedication, love, and service continue to inspire everything we do. Their names were spoken with reverence, and their legacies will remain forever woven into the fabric of our organization.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without the generosity of our sponsors, whose commitment to veterans and caregivers makes nights like this possible:

American Legion Post 43
American Legion Post 200
Concerned Veterans for America
Council on Rural Services
Miami County Agricultural Society
Piqua Lumber
Poor Farmers RV
USI Cable Corp
Versailles Skilled Nursing & Rehab

Because of their unwavering support, we were able to host this celebration of five years of hard work, hope, and healing.

If you were with us on June 21, you already know just how special this evening was—but for those who couldn’t make it, here’s a peek into the evening:

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a shining celebration of where we’ve been—and where we’re headed. Here’s to the next five years… and beyond.
