Great Day for Golf!

Today was the second annual Operation Veteran and Caregiver Support Golf Scramble, held at Echo Hills Municipal Golf Course. The morning dawned a little chilly, but all the golfers agreed that it was a great way to start. Registration started at 8am, and golfers took advantage of the time before our 9am shotgun start to hit a few balls on the driving range or practice their short game on the putting green. The 48 golfers headed out and got started right at 9am. We had a Double or Nothing wager on hole 15, but unfortunately the tree had more balls than the green.

The weather stayed perfect, the sun coming out right around noon, as everyone was finishing their last few holes. Lunch was served by TK BBQ-N-Fixins in the clubhouse, and there was quite a bit of good natured teasing and comradery as the teams waited for the results. We ended up with a tie for second place, and our winning team finished an impressive 12 under par. We passed out team prizes, as well as prizes for Longest Putt, Closest to the Pin, and Longest Drive. After those had been awarded, we drew our 50/50 winner and started drawing for door prizes. Thanks to all who participated today, it was a great day to be outside, and we were able to raise a significant amount of money to continue serving veterans, their families, and their caregivers in the Miami Valley. See you all in 2023! Please be sure to check out our upcoming events to see where you can join us next!

We want to take a moment to thank Echo Hills Golf Course and their new General Manager, Patrick Kirkland. He has only been in the position for a few months, but the changes that he is bringing to Echo Hills are exciting! The newly renovated clubhouse area served as a perfect spot to end our day, and the golfers loved being able to see their scores on the TV. They really helped our day to run smoothly, and Mel, one of our board members, was even able to play in the scramble this year! That wouldn’t have been possible without Patrick’s help in getting everything ready. If you are interested in golfing a round at Echo Hills, purchasing a membership, or getting a gift card for the golfer in your life, check them out here! They have a really awesome online system for securing a tee time, so you don’t ever need to worry about getting all the way to the course and someone coming in to snag your spot.
